The winter season in road maintenance is on, IntrinWay supports the work with new features

The winter season has started in the winter road maintenance. Safe driving conditions are based on continuous road weather monitoring, decisions and actions taken by the maintenance professionals.

To ensure road safety is the first priority, but the right decisions on the maintenance actions also help to optimize the maintenance costs, for example by minimizing the usage of salt. IntrinWay is the tool to help with this task.

IntrinWay is a road weather visualization and decision support application for road maintenance professionals as well as for traffic centres and research units.

The coming version of IntrinWay includes many new features to find the right information even more easily. For example the usage of maps and map layers is enhanced to enable more task related content. We have also added several new tools for weather camera picture exploration. Just to mention a few. When the autumn comes the winter season begins in the winter road maintenance. The maintenance pros monitor the road weather conditions in real time and make fast decisions on the actions needed. The Finnish road weather conference was held in June 6-7, 2017 in Kouvola, Finland. Hot topics in this year included autonomous driving, innovations in sensor technologies and developments in road weather forecasting plus related services.

The road weather conference is a biannual event for Finnish road winter maintenance organizations, traffic centres, companies supplying weather services, road weather related equipment and service providers and other stakeholders. The event is organized by the ELY centre of Southeast Finland who is in the operational charge of the road weather information system (RWIS) of the Finnish Road Administration.

The event consisted of presentations and discussions covering the latest development in road weather related issues in Finland and also at the international level. The conference is an important venue for professional networking as well.

Exciting and fruitful conference for all parties, again!
